At 40 I can already see that after 3 rides this is what all fat 40 year olds should be riding. I can't believe what one more inch of travel does for comfort. I see myself doing more long (fat burning) rides on this bike.

I tokk it to a park that I know is truly a hard tail park and was not beat up at all. I lock the Vanilla on the long climbs and cruise. I like it so much I bought a spare on ebay because I know some of my buds will want one. I'm still a 3 bike guy, but I'm not sure why now.

I've had it for a year and have hammered the heck out of it. After being severely injured on a ride a coupla years ago, I started recently to ride aggressively again (takes time to rebuild the confidence). This bike was a major part of my inspiration to turn up the heat in the saddle again.

Tonight, on our challenge ride, I was able to huck up to 5'ers to flat without feeling much of the landing. We took a stair drop (long, steep and twisty) where I launched mid way down to avoid another rider; the bike took it like a champ. I felt like I was back.

Buy this bike. My HD with DH tires (three ply) and beefy components comes in at 35 lbs. It was, at one point, a 28 lb rig before I went crazy on the tires. You'll be amazed how well you climb (I smoked a buddy on his ID in middle ring up a steep and loose climb... we are evenly paired as riders).

It feels rocksolid when pedaling along smooth trails (almost hardtail-like), but once you hit a technical section, you'll be amazed how plush and how much travel there is in the bike. When I went back to my Heckler, I realized how much more sophisticated this suspension design is. My old Heckler bobs like a Pogo stick. I just never noticed it because I was so used to it. Now that I have seen the light, there is no going back to a single pivot design (the only caveat being that I haven't tried one with a stable platform valve shock).

I initially felt this bike was sluggish, but I am no longer bothered by the gain of 3-4 pounds when going from my old bike to the 6.6. The Intense System 4 tires spec’d with this bike are indeed a little on heavy side but compared to my old Hutchison Python Air Lights, have incredible grip and are confident inspiring. I used to wash out my front tire at speed with regularity and had some nasty crashes. That no longer happens. Initially, the Minute 2 fork did not seem very plush. That has improved as the fork has broken in and as I have dialed in the right settings. I have also adjusted to the higher front end. It just takes more finesse and a shift of weight forward when climbing. I also find myself climbing out of the saddle more than I used to.

When the trail gets ugly you can flick and angle or just pick a straight line and GO!So much is made of brake jack in single pivots and call me crazy but I don't even notice it on this bike. What ever riding your doing it never feels out of place.If you like to ride a little (or a lot) of everything this bike is it.A true all mountain performer that makes you want to ride uphill,downhill, XC all day.

Even at around 31 lbs., it can climb at a decent pace, even compared to my current HT. Lots of traction. A great handling single track machine, handles twists and turns as long as you trust the bike. On sketchy technical stuff, just trust the bike, let go of the brakes and hang on.

Downhills are a blast. Felt more solid in the handling and bump absorption department than the giants ive tried. The bike can even dirtjump. Oh yeah, I love the way it looks. Cant imagine any other bike beating it at this price.

A real confidence booster and trail eater. I used to be a strictly XC singletrack rider on a lightweight and twitchy hardtail. After six months I am starting to nail six foot hucks, tabletops, rock gardens and a lot more speed. I am still way of pushing this bike near its limits.

I had one panic moment when i bought the bike because every time i climbed something single track and moderately steep, i would end up wheeling out and have to walk. I dropped the stem all the way to to headset and cut the fork down and since then i have the perfect balance of being able to pick up my front end enough to place the bike where i want it to go, but also haven't had any problems keeping my weight over the bike while going uphill.

I used to be the guy struggling to keep pace going uphill, and have to pause for a breather before heading down. In my first 2 rides I have not only cruised uphill easily, but I lead, and then charge downhill screaming - both figuratively and literally. Speed with no side effects (like getting bounced offline) is addicting on this bike. Plush is a severe understatement on the DHX and the ProPedal is the best thing since twist off beer caps (has an opener just in case). The frame is super responsive when you hit the gas and work it through the boulder fields. I could go on and on and I've only ridden it twice.

Not the lightest but it doesn't bob and I have never felt it bottom out. It probably does, I just never feel it.

It's really at it's best when you just push it forward and don't hesitate. The rear-end has a habit of stiffening up when hitting the brake. Good thing is that you don't really need the brakes once you know where you want to be headin'..

I do get surprised everytime I hit a nasty climb, when this thing can take me to the top painless. Then I will awe myself at the speed it will handle on the rockiest descents.

This is the Corvette of bikes: classic, not too sophisticated, not high-tech, but still the fastest thing on the block. Don't forget great value!
